Happy Earth Day!

Posted on April 22, 2016

I’ll be writing poems with the guys and gals from Short Order Poetry and Mused. in a couple of weeks at First Friday Art Crawl in Tulsa. I’ve been studying up on verse, came across this one by William Carlos Williams today, and thought it perfect for the occasion. Enjoy —

“A Sort of a Song”
Let the snake wait under
his weed
and the writing
be of words, slow and quick, sharp
to strike, quiet to wait,
—through metaphor to reconcile
the people and the stones.
Compose. (No ideas
but in things) Invent!
Saxifrage is my flower that splits the rocks.
—William Carlos Williams
